Michelle has been studying the Vedas in the lineage of Shaiva Tantra, through oral tradition transmission, for over 4 decades. She is a gifted Practitioner of Ayurvedic Medicine and Transformational Catalyst who guides her patients through unique and radical healing programs.
Michelle combines her skills as a Medical Intuitive and Healer Priestess with an extensive scientific education and research background to guide folks to revolutionary healing results (that they’ve usually been trying to achieve for years without success).
She brings her students and patients the healing transformations offered by traditional medicines, grounded in an evidence-based approach backed by modern science.
Michelle is the founder Sacred Flame Wisdom School and the creator of Sacred Flame Ayurveda. Michelle is a Registered Ayurvedic Practitioner, Herbalist and Pharmacist, and Psychology Consultant with the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA). Michelle is also a Healer Priestess who holds initiations from the triple wisdom lineages of Vedic Tantra, the Sakya Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and the Jaguar Medicine of the Andes.
Michelle is a Vedic Counselor, Certified Crystal Healer, metaphysical teacher, inter-dimensional healer, and a holder of Tantric Wisdom. She is also a Master of Public Health, Registered Ayurvedic Practitioner, Herbalist, Pharmacist, and Psychology Consultant.
Her body of work is based in energetic alchemy: guiding folks to uproot the causes of disease through a combined application of energy medicine, herbal medicine, embodiment, and connection to the Divine Self within.
Before her Ayurvedic career, Michelle worked in clinical research in the field of infectious disease, and was part of an international effort developing treatments for HIV/AIDS.
Michelle holds a Masters of Public Health Degree from the University of Liverpool with a specialization in International Public Health, and additional certifications as a Medical Intuitive, Certified Crystal Healer, and Reiki Master.
Michelle has over 30 years of practical experience in the health sciences, giving her the expertise to bridge Eastern and Western medical traditions.
In the 1990s, Michelle provided clinical support for several concurrent antiretroviral phase III studies for many of the medicines that have since changed the landscape of HIV/AIDS treatment on a global scale. She also provided support for one of the first HIV vaccine phase III studies in the United States. Michelle plans to initiate future collaborations in research, to integrate the Ayurvedic framework into study design for subject screening, to help make sense of what are currently viewed as inconsistencies in data, and further modern scientific research regarding such topics as dementia and cardiovascular disease.
In recognition of her professional accomplishments, Michelle was accepted to the University of Liverpool's MPH program for health professionals, where she earned her Master of Public Health degree, the completion of which involved conducting several research studies including investigating the effectiveness of meditative therapies in the treatment of anxiety and depression.
Michelle has published research on a wide range of public health topics, including the effects of meditation on anxiety and depression, the effects of marijuana use on the nervous system, asthma prevalence in Baltimore City, water contamination by pharmaceuticals and personal care products, the environmental effects of the Green Revolution in India, and the cultural health implications of agricultural change in the Amazon Basin.
Michelle studied medicinal chemistry and Indian Philosophy at George Washington University, where she learned from the renowned scholar Alf Hiltebeitel, studied Vedic Philosophy and Sanskrit language, wrote a thesis on Ayurvedic practice in America, completed Yoga teacher certification, and was awarded the Harry Yeide Prize for her scholarship. Michelle studied Anatomy and Physiology at the University of California Berkeley, and Ayurveda with teachers including Dr. John Douillard, Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla, and Perundevi Srinivasian.
Michelle completed programs with Swami Sadashiva Tirtha, the author of The Ayurveda Encyclopedia, to become certified as a Medical Intuitive and Vedic Astrologer (Jyotish practitioner). Additional trainings in Crystal Healing, Reiki, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) have allowed Michelle to incorporate these into her teaching and healing practice.
